What is ‘Baan Rom Mai’?

If you ask a Thai if he or she enjoys "rom mai" you most likely will receive an affirmative answer. The words “rom mai” mean “in the shadow of the tree”, which for many Thais is the best place to be during the warmest part of the day. Whether you are reading a good book, working on your computer or just taking a nap, the old Thai tradition of enjoying life “rom mai” is wisdom and pleasure combined.

The idea behind Baan Rom Mai is to build a friendly, positive, secluded and yet luxurious community, where you can enjoy the best things in life. High quality, design aware, modern, minimalistic and environmentally friendly are some of the notions behind what drives us.

The Baan Rom Mai house has been designed with the focus that it would blend in well in a tropical environment and yet provide all the comforts of a modern European home. We like to think we have managed this, but please do come and visit us to see for yourself.

Floor Plan

The floor plan is simple. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. In addition to this there is one big open kitchen / living room. To finish it off there is a spacious terrace on the front of the house.

All houses have a seaview of the azure blue Andaman so relax and let your soul be soothed in this tranquil setting. The idea of the spacious terrace, as well as the big windows towards the terrace, is to invite you appreciate the view to its full extent.

In order to keep that friendly neighbourhood feeling, we have also limited the area to only eight houses.

Master Plan

You don’t have to be an environmentalist to notice that we are living in a delicate phase of our planet's history. We at Baan Rom Mai are aware of this and are striving to minimize our environmental impact by making environmentally-friendly choices whenever possible. We would like to emphasize that it is not a requirement for anyone who would like to live here, however, but rather up to the individual's own choice. If you share our concern on the matter, though, you have come to the right place and will be encouraged to participate. Click here to find out more about our environmental objectives.

If you, like us, believe that technology, environment and design can go well together and value life on a tropical island, please don't hesitate to contact us.
